Berkeley Pit, Butte, Montana. It may not be the biggest-ass hole, but it's the baddest-ass hole.
Perhaps the most toxic place on earth. Heavy metals, acid, ... It's so contaminated that heavy metals can be mined from the water.
Back in the 90s, a flock of geese landed in the pit and promptly died. They now have horns to scare off any birds trying to land.
